STEVE Toyne hopes that the strength in depth of his squad will hold up to their latest test – a fresh batch of injuries.
Dinnington Town had a rough start to the season, at one point missing 15 first team and reserve players, but after four wins on the trot things appear to be looking up for the Phoenix Road club.

Toyne was delighted with Saturday's 4-2 win at home to Hall Road Rangers, taking his side up to fifth in the Northern Counties East Premier, but yet again faces concerns over the availability of players.

He told the Guardian: "I strongly expected we'd turn our season around once we started getting players back to full fitness, and we have – we've won four in a row."

"But all of a sudden we have another test of our strength in depth."

"We're very worried about Simon Mirfin's kidkey injury. When he sneezes he doubles over in pain."

"Matty Haigh is having trouble with his knee ligaments, Chris Cook is away, Gavin Allot will be away for two weeks, Michael Blythen is suspended for three games – it's all adding up again."

However, the manager is confident that his squad can hold their form together during another player availability crisis, especially in the light of a sublime second-half performance on Saturday.

Hall Road Rangers took a two-goal lead before Dinnington came roaring back with four of their own to take all three points.

Rangers took the lead against the run of play on 42 minutes when Paul Palmer made Andrew Thornton save, but Palmer scored from the rebound.

Soon after the re-start Palmer put Rangers further in front with his second of the game.

Ant Lynam reduced the scoreline on 55 minutes when he received a square ball just outside the area, evaded a challenge and found the right-hand side of the net.

Two minutes later Gavin Allot equalised and, on 62 minutes, it was 3-2 to Dinnington – Jon Somerset crossing for Ben Rosser to head home.

Louis Axcell's 20-yard shot few into the left hand corner of the net to seal the win.

Toyne waxed lyrical about the game, which he believed was full value for the admission fees.

He said: "One or two people said they felt they should have paid on the way out again, it was such a good game."

"We gave Rangers a two-goal start and it was end to end stuff, and we came back in style to win it."

"Even the referee and linesmen said they thoroughly enjoyed it," he added.

The next challenge for Toyne's men is a trip to ninth-placed Thackley on Saturday, a side who triumphed 3-0 against Maltby Main on Saturday.

The Dinnington boss said: "Thackley are playing well, but it will be a good test for us."

"Even if we have three or four players out, we can still put a good side out."

l TOYNE has snapped up former Fulham midfielder Oliver O'Neill and ex Mansfield striker Danny Reet.

l FIRST team coach Ronnie Akers has moved to Hallam FC, prompting Toyne to plead with fans: "We're on a shoestring and we need people in through the turnstiles."

l DINNINGTON Town are looking for a fitness coach and club physiotherapist.
