DINNINGTON Town put in a performance worthy of a team of full-time professionals on Saturday, according to boss Steve Toyne.
The manager was delighted with the way his squad extended their winning streak to five games, in turn moving into third position in the Northern Counties East Premier.
He told the Guardian: "It was a very professional performance."
"Our defence was
tremendous, from the goalkeeper to the back four."
A headed goal from new recruit Danny Reet and Gavin Allot's third strike in three games gave Dinnington a comfortable three points. Toyne singled out one player for special praise. He said: "The pick of the bunch was Ben Rosser, playing at centre-half."
"He's played there before, and he sometimes gets a wander lust because of the attacking nature of his game, but he was rock solid."
"He couldn't get on the bus after the game because he still had both their strikers in his back pocket."
Town face the arduous trip to Penrith, a side they defeated in the FA Cup last season after a replay, in the FA Vase tomorrow.
Toyne said: "It's a three-hour trip in the minibus, which I'll be driving, while I iron the team kit and tell jokes to my captive audience."
"I'd be happy with a draw, so we can bring them back down here mid-week, like they did to us last season, and see how they like it."
