THERE won't be a national cup run for Dinnington Town this season, after they crashed out of the FA Vase away at Penrith.

Steve Toyne's men went 1-0 down on 15 minutes to a Michael Reed header and with five minutes remaining in the match Wayne Robertson sidefooted home to book Penrith's passage into the next round.

Toyne said the defeat was disappointing for a number of reasons.

He told the Guardian: "We didn't play, and I'm disappointed that we didn't even score a goal."

"From a financial point of view we needed a cup run. The difference is that last year we had a cup run and we had a coach to travel in, this year we're packing 17 of us into a minibus for three hour trips to Penrith."

"It's a lot to ask players to get out and play after that." Dinnington host Lincoln Moorlands Railway at Phoenix Park tomorrow and although the visitors have failed to pick up a single point from their seven league games, Toyne refuses to underestimate them.

He said: "We will not be taking them lightly."

"We were in a similar position this season, we lost our first three games and who would have thought we would go to league champions Winterton Rangers and win 2-0?"

"Lincoln could do the same to us, so we're not underestimating them."

The manager wants a bumper home crowd for tomorrow's clash, which could see Town extend their winning streak in the league to six games.

"We're desperate for people to turn out and watch us play, we're the most successful team in Rotherham at the moment," he said.

Dinnington Town's County Senior side beat Penistone Church 6-0 and Handsworth 2-1 last week.
