SUPPORTERS turned out in force to boost a glittering fashion event, raising thousands for a young runaways charity.

Dinnington-based children's charity Safe@Last benefited from the show, which was held at Hellaby Hall Hotel last Thursday.

Guests enjoyed a three-course meal while the team of volunteer models, with hair done by Dooneys and makeup by Danielle James, showed off the outfits.

After the show, which was presented by Uber and supported by Moda menswear and Muse shoes, there was a chance to browse stalls offering up home wares and gifts.

"The fashion show has been a tremendous success," said Hilary Massarella, Safe@Last chief executive and founder trustee.

"It was organised for us by Jacqui Hawkins, a fabulous volunteer and fundraising committee member. Without her dedication and hard work this event would not have been able to take place."

"Our thanks must of course always go to those that have supported the event such as Hellaby Hall, Uber, Moda and Muse without whose contributions we would not have been able to raise an outstanding £3,000."

"This money is vital to enable us to continue to provide vital services for young people in our region."

The charity works with young people in South Yorkshire who are at risk through running away from home. With little statutory income, most of its funding comes directly from events like this.

"We are really happy to have been able to work with Safe@Last on this brilliant event," said Jo Barnes from Moda. "The evening was a sell out and a fantastic night. Everyone had a great time."

"Being associated with an event like this has helped raise our profile but more importantly it's raised much needed funds for the charity. I look forward to working with Safe@Last again in the future."

Young People needing help can contact the charity's 24-hour helpline on 0800 335 SAFE.

And anyone wishing to pledge their support should visit www.safeatlast.org.uk, or you can donate £3 by texting SAM to 84424.
