ADMINISTRATORS of Hellaby-based company Rosebys announced today that 10 stores have closed down.
The soft furnishing company went into administration a week ago and 32 jobs have been axed from head office and merchandising positions.

Jobs at the Worksop, Retford and Rotherham stores appear to be safe for the moment but the company's future is still hanging in the balance.

Staff at the 10 stores including Leicester and Swindon became the latest victims of the credit crunch when they were made redundant yesterday.

The joint administrators, who are seeking a buyer for the Rosebys group of companies, confirmed this afternoon that they have received 45 expressions of interest in the business.

However, they have closed 10 of the home textile retail chain's outlets, making 60 people redundant.

Howard Smith, joint administrator and KPMG Restructuring associate partner, said: "There has been significant interest in this business though a deliverable deal has not yet proved possible." "We continue to seek offers for the whole or any part of the business and are in discussions with a number of interested parties."

"Closing some of the poorer performing outlets has been unavoidable to ensure trading remains at profitable levels."

The following outlets were closed and the staff made redundant: Glasgow, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow Forge, Dunstable, Basildon, Swindon, Brighton,Wood Green, Sutton Coldfield, Oldham and Leicester.
